Math Smath

Up 'til now I have resisted the many many urges that come to me to write about my present employment. But they have really outdone themselves now.

I'll start with this. I have worked here for going on two years, they still think my name is Rebecca and that it is okay to call me Becky. It is NOT okay to call me Becky. Not ever. I feel almost like I am more of an automaton than an employee. I'm not asking for special treatment, but would it be to much to ask that they acknowledge that my first name is REBEKAH? I have written about this before but it is still really irking me.

But here is what imspired me to write this post. They are now restricting our lunches. They want only two of us to go to lunch in any given hour between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. I see the logic behind that, sort of. We don't deal with customers, we work in the back office, so we legitimately have NO CONTACT with anyone, so what does it matter if three people are out to lunch at the same time? No one needs to talk to them at that specific minute. But still...I see why it could potentially be a problem. Here is the kicker though...they want SEVEN people to go to lunch TWO at a time in THREE hours.

You figure that math out, because I missed the lesson where they taught us that 7÷3=2.

  1. I'm guessing you don't work at an accounting firm! LOL

I am so with you on getting people's names right. I have a different first name and it gets irritating when I'm called by the wrong name. People just make assumptions.

  2. Good lord. I love it when management comes up with bright ideas. I hope someone points it out to them!

  3. I can completely empathize with you on the name thing. My name is Kandi, and I HATE it when people call me Candace as though that was my given name. It's not.

    Pisses me off something fierce.
