Is This Normal?

First of all..the wedding was amazing.  INCREDIBLE.  I promise many pictures to come, but I am unable to sort through them and find the appropriate words right now.

On that note...would you like to know why I am a little distracted?

Oh, because my house is, once again, filled with smoke.  I told you I was a holy terror in the kitchen...I did not exaggerate.

It all began innocently enough.  I filled the dishwasher, spun the dial to normal and walked away.  Thirty minutes later the acrid smell of burnt plastic began to fill the house as we got ready to head out for the day.  We followed the smell to the kitchen and what do you know? SMOKE!

Matt opened the dishwasher to find...
...this. What the heck did I even do here?

It appears that a bottle and a spoon fell through the rack (I am, admittedly, not great at loading the dishwasher) then melted??

I mean, does this kind of thing even happen to other people, or am I alone in my inability to accomplish a simple task?

  1. is a right of passage for every woman in the kitchen!!! Don't

  2. Sad to say, I have done exactly the same thing. And what a stink!

  3. I seriously had no idea that this could even happen!

Glad I wasnt completely alone in this though! Thanks ladies!

  4. Am surprised a dishwasher would get that hot... but then again I don't use a dishwasher of fear that I'll break it lol.

  5. Oh no! I think it happens to everyone at some point!

    Looking forward to wedding photos.

  6. I have never admitted this to anyone else, but the same thing happened to me with one of those George Foreman grill fat catching trays. We actually called the fire dept. and they were the ones who figured out the source of the smoke. Totally embarrassing.

  7. It stinks alright! I have done the same thing, and I do try to load everything just right, I often wonder what goes on in that dishwasher at times!
