Busted

Jack has begun to show off a real dare-devil streak in the past few months.  It started with him showing no fear of steps of any kind.  He will walk right off of them.  Thankfully we have always been there to grab him before anything serious could happen, and we keep our stairs gated all day, every day.  Then, about a week ago he demonstrated the ability to push a toy over to the couch and use it to climb up onto the couch, which is a definite no-no in our house.  Not surprisingly, he also fell off the couch twice in one day (he was fine, but still).

His newest trick has been to climb on his little red rocking chair and stand there until someone sees him, then he will say 'no! down' like...oh hey! How did I get up here?! That's weird.

I have started keeping the chair out of his reach if I am going to be in and out of the room, but he still manages one or two escapades a day.  And when he gets caught?
I try REALLY hard not to laugh.

  2. Oh my word, that face is hilarious!!! We always joke that boys are like the cartoon characters that will walk off a clif into mid air. Can't tell you how many times we've witnessed that trick.

  3. So funny! Nate also uses toys as steps to climb on the furniture. He loves launching himself head-first over the arm of the recliner. He also jumped over the side of the bathtub once. I "caught" him, but he was all wet, so he still landed on the tile on his forehead.

  5. Jack and my Jackson sound like they'd get into lots of trouble together--J's the same way. There's not a fearful bone in his body, which means he walks off the stairs, climbs up anything, will try to roll off the bed, without fear. Me on the other hand, my heart drops in my chest about 9 times a day!

  7. Lizzy does the SAME THING. We were in the preschool classroom at church the other day, and I walked towards the door for a second to answer a question. When I turned back around, Lizzy was standing on one of the little preschool tables. I said, "What are you doing?!" and she just smiled and said, "UH OH!". Nice.

  9. Grandkids! God's way of blessing parents of daredevil children. I will give everyone a heads up on our fsvorite mouse here...She would climb anything and jump off anything with a simple (yet terrifying) Catch Daddy!
    I love you!

  10. OMG, what is it with kids and trying to scare the life out of their Mammas?!?! Kinsley is doing this too with her rocking chair, so bad infact that i've given up and put the chair into the basement until she's older. She doesn't even do the "busted" look... she looks right at you and smiles WHILE she climbs into a standing position!
