I haven't blogged in a long time! And it's not really for the reason you might think...I have been sick, yes, but the reason I haven't blogged is the cord to our laptop is no longer with us. (This blog post brought to you by my sister's laptop)

It had started to be a little hit or miss with charging, we had to wiggle it around until it found the right spot and it would stop when it decided it had had enough.  Shortly after that, the plastic melted back and the metal parts of the word were exposed.

The last straw though? When Matt found it smoking.  We are on the hunt for a new cord...should be back in action by the end of the week (I hope)!

In other news, I am feeling pretty good these days! Not quite back to normal by any means, and unfortunately last week I had an allergic reaction to a different medication that was just AWFUL, ugh.  But that has been straightened out now, and soon I should be able to wean off of the medicine altogether!

Jack has been growing and changing by leaps and bounds, new words every day, new dance moves, he has even started to do the motions to 'The Itsy Bitsy Spider'! The big news in the world of Jack though?  He has his very own pet! About a week ago we got him two goldfish and a small tank to keep in his room (unfortunately one of the fish is no longer with us.  Ahem...I don't know HOW it happened! It was tragic, but Jack doesn't seem to notice.)

ANYWAY, he has a 'blub-blub' and demands to look at it even 15 minutes or so.  It is adorable, hopefully I will get some pictures up here soon, but you know...without a charged computer it makes it tough.

On the baby #2 front, I was excited to hear the heartbeat again just a few weeks ago, and as of Wednesday I will be 12 weeks along! I'm sporting a cute teeny baby bump, despite the fact that I am a few pounds down from the hyperemesis.  All worth it though!

Phew, so...What's new in the world of you?

Pregnancy Brain

The following occurred as I tried to tell Matt a story about a driving incident we had a week or so ago.

Me: Well, there was this guy pulling one of things.

Matt: What?

Me: Um.  It's flat and it has wheels?  You have pull it behind your car to carry big stuff?

Matt: A trailer?

Me: Yeah.

Oh, the joys of pregnancy.  Not only is my body no longer my own, but my brain seems to have skipped out on the whole shebang altogether.

Tell me I am not alone?  Did you ever experience 'pregnancy brain'?

So Wednesday...

Before I start this story, I want to give a little disclaimer! I get nervous reading through a story and not knowing if everyone is to set your minds at ease...I am fine.  The baby is fine.  Also, this story is choppy and not very well written, but I want you to know whats going on.

I mentioned the other day that I had been very sick with this pregnancy, and despite the mean little devil on my shoulder telling me to just deal with it, I finally gave in and called my midwife on Wednesday morning.  She listened to me as I described what had been happening, and advised me to take myself to the ER.

I listened.  My mom came over to help with Jack, and right around noon the three of us headed in to the hospital.  I was tested for dehydration, and hooked up to an IV almost immediately, and given a shot of medicine to calm my stomach.  During this, my mom wrangled Jack, an eventually around 3 PM, Matt came to the ER so that my mom could take Jack home.  After two liters of fluids, my urine told the nurses that I was still dehydrated (in 'starvation mode' as they put it...I wasn't kidding about not being able to keep ANYTHING down), so I was given another bag of fluids, and my blood sugar was tested.  Not surprisingly, it was way too low for a pregnant woman, so after my third bag of fluids I was started on Dextrose in my IV and given something to eat.

This made me sick again, so I was given another shot of Zofran in my IV, which helped immensely.   Finally, after my fourth bag of fluids, I was no longer dehydrated, and my blood sugar was high enough that the nurses were comfortable with me going home. Matt and I finally got home around 9 PM, and found that not only had my supermom and sister taken wonderful care of my sweet little boy, they also cleaned my house and did our laundry.  I know...they kinda rock.

I was told that, most likely, I have developed something called hyperemesis and I was given a prescription for medicine that, so far, has helped so much I feel like I am finally a mommy and wife again, let alone a human!

There was a beautiful silver lining to my day spent in the ER...we got to have an ultrasound! Sweet baby #2 is wiggling around with a strong heart rate of 176! I am so grateful to know that despite all the stuff happening to me...this baby is safe and healthy!

So...anyway...that's what we did this week.  I am so thankful for all the friends and family that have offered their prayers and their help as we go through this, and for the wonderful nurses in the hospital that took great care of us.

Hopefully I will be back to my usual self within a month or so, and won't need the medicine to get through the days, but until then, thank you for bearing with me and this little space that might, sadly, get a little neglected every few days or so.

Hi there!

I bet you thought I forgot about this little ol' blog didn't you?  I didn't! I swear! I have just gotten caught up in wicked wicked morning sickness, the kind that causes my skinny jeans to be a little loose on me now.  Not good when you are supposed to be growing a human and all.

So anyway...I'm sorry I left you hanging! How can I make it up to you?  How does $50 sound?  (When I told Matt I was doing a $50 giveaway, he said 'Where did you get $50 to give away?' and his eyebrows darn near shot up into his hair!) No worries my dear little budgeting man, it is $50 that CSN stores has graciously offered to one of you special readers!

Until they contacted me, I had no idea how much STUFF they have to choose from such as these great LCD TV stands! I think any of you would be able to guess that right now my little heart is going pitter pat over all the sweet little baby stuff they have to offer! Especially since we just started to plan this coming little ones nursery!

My sister snapped this profile shot of Jack on Sunday.
Can you believe that belly?  It is a work of art I tell ya! He and I are heading out to the park to enjoy the sunshine (and hopefully get my mind off of how lousy I am feeling lately).

Happy is Wednesday right?
