I Guess We're Doing This...

I'll be the first to admit that Jack is ready for this step well before I am.  I would be fine keeping him in diapers for a few more months, but he wants to potty-train, so potty-training is what we will do!
Potty Chart printable found here.

I'll let you know how it goes. So far...it's not awful.  Any 'must-know' advice from you experienced moms?  I welcome it all!

  2. All I can say is don't give up or doubt yourself when it gets hard. Ashlynn went in waves and it was discouraging. Just stick with it and don't give up! Good luck!

  4. I had a tough time with mine...but a friend said to use the toilet bowl thingies that turn the water blue....when they use the big potty....it magically turns the water green.....yep....simple....magic makes everything much easier!!! But I warn you.....they will want to pee none stop.....magic!

  5. Throw cheerios into the toilet bowl and let him aim. Make it fun and not a fight! Whenever possible let him watch daddy. All little boys want to be just like their dads!

  6. For us, once we started we vowed to not do diapers or pull-ups... ever! No matter how hard it got.

We didn't start potty training until Jaxon stayed dry through the night (and at naps), so this made it significantly easier to avoid the pull-ups situation.

For us, we were great after Day 3, but our REAL struggle came in the weeks following. Once it got less exciting for me (and I stopped making a HUGE deal about it every time he went) and once it got boring for him, he regressed and started going frequently in his pants again. Ugh... that's where I really wanted to throw in the towel and quit, but we kept pushing through and tried to start making a big deal about it again (rewarding the positives) and eventually he got it.

Good luck. Seriously, I might wait until Cohen is in kindergarten before I try with him. Haha :)
