The Farmhouse

So...how about a little more detail on that house I mentioned in the last post?! The big selling (renting?) point on the house is that it is about ten minutes from where Matt will be working, so in theory he could even come home for lunch!  We are signing the lease for a year starting in July, and we have our current townhouse until the end of July, so ideally we will be able to slowly move our stuff up there and hopefully avoid living out of boxes.

There is the snag of Matt being gone for about two weeks in the middle of July, but we will make it work! (He is going to CUBA as a translator with our church mission trip! How cool is that?! I know! Really cool!)  The house is a three bedroom, one and a half bath, renovated farmhouse.

As you can see from the watermark, these are NOT my pictures, they were emailed to us by the owner, who is very nice by the way.
The outside could use a little curb appeal, and I am excited to do some planting! Hopefully I don't end up with a flower bed full of shriveled up little plants! Haha - it's happened before!

The downstairs is definitely the best part of the house, there is a cute little kitchen, and a open dining room/living room.
Matt and I have some big plans to make this little house 'ours' (for now anyway).
This is the owners old furniture, and because it is so massive it makes the room look small, but this living area is actually pretty huge, which is good because - have you met Jack? Yeah...open spaces are good.

I don't have any pictures of the upstairs, but rest assured - they will be taken eventually! We were happy to hear the owner tell us we are more than welcome to paint, and Jack has already picked out a VERY bold blue for his room...we will see about that!

So there you have it! The farmhouse rental that we will be calling home for at least a year! This may not be the route I wanted, but I am going to do my very best to make this a wonderful place to call home for us.

I would LOVE to hear your feedback.  Matt and I have some pretty good ideas in our little noggins, but what do YOU see happening in this house?  What colors would you paint?  What would you plant outside?

  1. Wow, what a lovely place! Could you possibly do a rent to own type of deal?

    1. Possibly, but I dont think we actually want to own in that area. Its up in Bloomsburg, and while we are SO grateful that Matt has the opportunity to work up there, it isnt where we plan on staying indefinitely. Does that make sense? I think we will probably be there for a few years, but we are hoping that in time there will be teaching jobs in the York area again.

  2. I love it! It's so fun and the fact that your owner will let you paint is HUGE! I love that your thinking about doing a grey wall with wainscoting as well! It's going to look fantastic! I can't wait to see what you come up with and compare styles!
