We're In!

Well Hello! Aside from a quick little post about Matt's birthday, I feel like it has been a really long time since I was able to blog! Between moving, waiting for internet to be hooked up, and then losing my laptop charger (oops), I haven't had a lot of time to update.

Our move went really smoothly, and we have been settling in over the last week.  We still have a TON to do make this house 'ours', but it really does already feel like home.
I have a ton of pictures to share, but I am going to break the posts up into room by room, otherwise this would be a heck of a long post! So...where to start??

How about a room we really haven't talked about at all?  Our bedroom.  Our room is actually pretty large..well...it is to us at least! It is roughly 12x17, so when you compare that to our last room which was around 10x12(with a 6 and half foot ceiling to boot!), it feels like a dance floor!   I don't have a picture with the carpet still in this room, but this is more or less our starting point with our room...
..DARK.  This room got two coats of primer before we moved in at all, and just that change alone made a world of difference! It's amazing how much light changes a room!
That said...primer isn't really the look we were going for in there, but we still wanted our room to be comfortable until we found the right color, so we set up our bed and the rest of our furniture.  Oh and in case you are curious, the window needs to be reframed at some point (it's on our verrrrry long list), so that is why you can see wood trim inside, we weren't worried about painting something that we will be replacing.
We actually bought new bedding about a month ago, but we decided to just hang on to it until we moved so that our room could really be a fresh start.  We went with a white pin-tuck comforter and we are SO happy with it.  Seriously...so comfy.  Also - our rug?  I just want to lay on it all the time.  I love that darn thing.  We hunted and hunted for the right rug for our room, and finally found a soft, affordable, neutral rug from Lowes.  (It is this one if you are looking!)

But ANYWAY...on to the walls.  I wanted something subtle, but I still wanted just a little bit of color to it, and after bring home a handful of swatches I quickly settled on Valspar Polar Star.

Over all it has a light grey tone, but in some light it shows up a little bit on the beige-y side, which I liked.  I snatched up a gallon in an eggshell finish, and then one night when the boys were asleep and Matt was at practice I got to work with my brush and roller. I only managed to get one coat on the walls before I practically fell asleep on my feet, BUT even though it still needs another coat we are really happy with the color!
Overall I am SO happy with the changes we have made, and I am looking forward to making more! (Ahem..ceiling fan.  Your days are numbered my friend).

How about a little side by side action to close out today's post?
Yeah...I'd say it's a good start! What do you think?
