The Hook Nook

Remember last time I showed you this view? It was...I don't know...a long time ago.
Well I neglected to show you what this first started out as for us.  Are you ready for this?

Now, originally there was a wall with shelves there to close off the bathroom, but due to a stackable washer/dryer unit that had been installed there, there was a lot of mildew/mold that had to be remedied, so that wall needed to come down.

Despite the fact that I have been an awful blogger, we HAVE actually been doing a lot of work in the house over the summer, so I wanted to make sure I documented the progress.  Here is where this area stands today.
It is still not finished, everything is still just primer at this point, but it certainly looks a bit fresher.  As you can see, we closed off the potty, added board and batten with some hooks for function (I refer to this as the hook nook, but I am a dork), we patched and primed the formerly aqua wall, and we found a home for the massive $0.50 owl painting, and painted the inside of the door the same color as the outside.

The attic door opens into the space with the hooks, which is why we needed to keep everything relatively flush with the wall, but it has really turned out to be a very useful place to hang my purse or the diaper bag.  Obviously we will paint it at some point, but right now we have bigger fish to fry (i.e. painting the kitchen cabinets!).
Phew.
